Abuk Malual

Abuk was born in Wau, South Sudan, and moved to Nairobi with her mother and two brothers when she was nine. She grew up in a flat in South C, played netball at school and was in her second year of architecture at university when a scout stopped her outside a bookshop in Westlands. Four years later she is based between Paris and London and walks the main fashion weeks every season. Between castings she draws building facades from hotel windows in a small black sketchbook, keeps a thermos of spiced tea in her tote bag, and plays draughts with her grandfather over video call every Sunday, however far away she is.
