Baek Dain

Dain grew up in Jeonju, above the small rice-cake shop her mother still runs near the old hanok village. She started contemporary dance at a local arts high school, was scouted at a regional showcase at sixteen, and spent three years as a trainee in Seoul before debuting at nineteen as the main dancer and sub-vocalist of a five-member girl group. She keeps every choreography in a paper notebook, written as counts and little stick figures, because she says she forgets moves she only filmed. On days off she takes an online Korean literature class, stretches on the practice room floor while watching baseball, and brings her members rice cakes from home after every holiday.
